O Level EL Oral! My Reflection
My oral exam had ended in the afternoon just now.It went on smoothly for me and the theme for today is family. Both examiners were male.Okay let's talk about the events before the oral.Lessons went as per normal for History.During Chemistry,Mrs Betty Chow taught us about condensation polymerisation. So far I can understand what she had taught.During recess I managed to eat rice though some bastards cut the queue. We did map-reading during Geography and had a Algebra test during Maths. The weather is wet but I still went to the mosque, praying that I could do well for oral. The candidates were supposed to assemble in the hall at 2pm and the oral would start at 2.30pm but I ended the prayer at 2pm.I waited for more than 15 minutes for the bus to arrive. At that time I was panicking that I would be late and I was the first person to be tested.I was so kiasu when I boarded the bus.Fortunately I reached school at 2.20pm.
I was the first one to start.Mr Clarke timed me 10 minutes for me to practise and study the picture. The picture shows an old neighbourhood with a group of senior citizens chatting with each other and at the same time, their grandchildren are with them.I begun to predict the questions that would come out for the conversation part.
Here are the questions that were asked:
(Picture discussion)
1.Why do you think the people are gathering around the table?
2.What do you think the child sitting on the table is thinking?
3.There is a boy carrying a plastic bag.Where do you think he is going?
(Conversation)
1.Who took care of you when you were young?
2.Talk about the memory during your pre-school days.
3.What are the advantages of being away from your family e.g studying oversea?
4.Is it important to keep in touch with your relatives?
I did not realised how long I took.I thanked the examiners and wished them a nice day. They replied and wished me a good day! I saw that the examiner wrote the number 13 on one of the columns after I had completed the conversation.I saw that but I don't know whether was it my mark for conversation of anything else.Conversation is 16 marks.I hope that that 13 sould be the score for my conversation part.I wasn't sure about my reading and picture conversation but I knew that I had tried my best.I read the passage with emotion and passion and emphasised on the end of each word.I am hoping for a distinction for this oral. The topic was quite manageable. The other candidates told me that I was the only one who took the longest time.I am sorry for that but it's okay. The oral exam is over and I have to focus more on the other papers.Prelim is coming next week.Treat it like the real O Level. It is a gauge on how prepared I am for O Level. My maths is getting better and better but I'm aiming for A2.
After that, I met Raja,Zaki and hamizan outside the HOD room. They told me that Eunice Olsen had not come at that time.I don't know why but I was eager to see her. Then ,Daphne and Hui Min sat on our table and we talked and reflected about the oral exam.
